The subterranean celebration included a full project briefing and a high-profile roster of attendees, including Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Giovanni Lopez, Embassy of Japan Charges d’Affaires ONO Sho, JICA Chief Representative BABA Takashi, executives from the Nishimatsu Construction-DMCI Joint Venture, and the project’s engineers and officers.
For the everyday Filipino commuter, this breakthrough signals the light at the end of the tunnel. Once fully completed, the country's first subway will deliver a faster, highly reliable alternative to navigating Metro Manila's notorious surface-level gridlock.
