Singapore-based manufacturer MNEX is moving forward with a ₱180-million precision manufacturing facility in Santo Tomas, Batangas, as government agencies help the company work toward an early-2027 production target.

The facility is located inside the Light Industry and Science Park III Special Economic Zone. Current reports indicate that renovation work is underway, making this an implementation-stage industrial fit-out rather than simply a newly announced investment. However, production has not yet begun, and the early-2027 opening remains a target rather than an accomplished milestone.

What MNEX plans to produce

MNEX intends to manufacture precision-molded components for consumer electronics, medical devices and industrial applications. Reports also describe the project as introducing micro-molding technology to the Philippines for producing small, precisely engineered plastic components.

The Batangas operation will be MNEX’s first manufacturing investment in the country. The company is part of Singapore-headquartered Meiban Group, whose reported capabilities include precision tooling, plastic injection molding, metal machining, automated assembly and product development.

PEZA registration came before the current renovation

MNEX’s Philippine branch signed its registration agreement with the Philippine Economic Zone Authority on 11 December 2025. PEZA identified a ₱180-million investment for the production of molded parts at the Santo Tomas economic zone.

PEZA also said the project was expected to create more than 60 direct jobs once operational. That employment figure is a projection connected to future operations, not a count of positions already created.

DTI and PEZA support the production target

Trade Secretary Cristina Roque met MNEX representatives in Singapore on 10 October 2026 to discuss the facility’s progress and requirements for starting operations.

According to the accessible reports, the discussions covered electricity costs, land arrangements and government support available to registered economic-zone enterprises. MNEX also expressed interest in forming a Philippine digital team to support its manufacturing systems, although no confirmed staffing level or establishment date was disclosed.

The Department of Trade and Industry and PEZA are assisting with the facility’s completion. This government support does not mean that every permit, procurement package or construction requirement has been completed.

What remains undisclosed about the construction work

The reports confirm that renovation is underway, but they do not identify the building’s floor area, renovation budget, architect, general contractor or specialist subcontractors. They also do not disclose:

  • Approved architectural or engineering plans
  • Building and occupancy-permit status
  • Cleanroom or controlled-environment classifications
  • Wall-system specifications
  • Fire, acoustic or thermal criteria for internal partitions
  • Construction-material quantities
  • Any AAC specification, purchase order or Blocktec involvement

Earlier coverage described MNEX as planning to build or establish a facility, while the latest reports describe renovation already in progress. The current evidence therefore points more specifically to the adaptation of a facility, but it does not reveal whether the work is taking place in a leased standard factory building or another property arrangement.
